Hardwood Floor Drying After Water Damage
San Francisco homes are known for their beautiful hardwood floors โ often original to buildings constructed in the early 1900s. When water damage occurs, these floors are at immediate risk of warping, cupping, and buckling. The faster drying begins, the better the chance of saving the original wood.
Allied Restoration uses specialized drying equipment including floor drying mats, heating pads, and hardwood floor drying systems that draw moisture out from the underside of the wood without requiring removal. When used within the critical 24-48 hour window, these systems can save floors that would otherwise need to be replaced.
When Can Wood Floors Be Saved?
- Water event was within the last 24โ72 hours
- Flooring is solid hardwood (engineered wood has lower success rate)
- Subfloor moisture content is within dryable range
- No prior moisture intrusion or pre-existing damage
